Inductors & Ferrites
An inductor a passive electrical component that stores energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it. It opposes sudden changes in electrical current. It smoothens current flow and prevent abrupt fluctuations.
Ferrites are ceramic-like magnetic material used in electronic devices. They are available as rods and coils. Ferrite coils are among the most widely used components in modern electronic circuits.
Ferrite coils are essentially a type of wound component made with magnetic core carrying windings of enameled copper wire.
Electric transformers, high frequency transformers, pulse transformers, EMI Filters, and other wound components such as inductors represent different forms of ferrite coils. They are extensively used in RF transformers and inductors in applications such as switched-mode power supplies, ferrite loopstick antennas for AM radio receivers, RO systems, telecommunication systems, electric fencing, lighting drivers etc.
In this category we have listed a number of inductors commonly used in small electrical and electronics project. We have also listed ferrite rods and ferrite coils that are commonly used.
