A resistor is a basic passive electronic component that induces electrical resistance in an electronic circuit. Resistors are used to reduce current flow, adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias active elements etc., in an electronic circuit. Resistors are commonly available as carbon film resistors (CFR), metal film resistors (MFR), metal glaze resistors and wire wound resistors. They are available in various resistance values and power handling capabilities.
